| COREDES’ mission is to provide support on R&D matters,
which can be of benefit to the European shipbuilding and shiprepair industry and
equipment manufacturers. The main objective is the acquiring and implementing of
new knowledge and technology in products, services and in all aspects of the design
and production processes and of the supply chain in shipbuilding and shiprepair. |

| The Working Group's task is to identify future shipbuilding
requirements and to investigate the future development in shipbuilding capacity,
aiming to provide best possible guidance for long-term planning. In a cooperation
with other shipbuilding associations, in particular from the main building nations
in Asia, sophisticated forecasting models are discussed and the results are exchanged. |

macroeconomic level and reviews any issues of anti-competitive behaviour.

| The working group deals with issues of international
trade policy related to shipbuilding. This includes in particular relevant
activities at the OECD and the WTO. |

| Based on years of trustful and constructive cooperation
with the European Metalworkers' Federation (EMF), the social partners in
shipbuilding established in 2003 the first formal Sector Dialogue Committee
at EU level in the metal trades. With this step, both CESA and EMF want
to contribute to the perspectives of the European shipbuilding sector, supporting
competitiveness and a high degree of high quality jobs. |

| The Ship Maintenance, Repair and Conversion Group is the voice of
the European shiprepair sector. |

| TAC advises the Board on all regulatory and major technical
matters and is thus the competent body for all issue related to safety and environment
friendliness. These topics are of major concern to European shipyards, as much to the
European citizens. CESA is firmly committed to contribute to improvements in this field.
Its formally recognized consultative status with the International Maritime Organisation
(IMO) as well as the Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine offers the
opportunity to provide the expertise of TAC to the regulatory authorities. Relevant
activities are also coordinated within the industry world wide in the Committee for the
Elimination of Substandard Ships (CESS), which has been chaired for many years by the
European delegation. |

| CESA is currently in the process of establishing a
forum for fostering common co-ordinated industrial views on policies and
practices, which will support the enhancement of the European Naval Defence
capabilities and its European industrial base. |
